９月になっても、毎日、３０度以上の暑い日が続いています。(Even though it’s September, the hot weather continues with temperatures over 30 degrees every day.)

今日は、１１日です。(Today is the 11th. Usually.)

例年は、今頃になると涼しくなりました。(It gets cooler around this time of year.)

しかし、今年は、いつまでも暑さが続いています。(But this year, the heat has continued unabated.)

9月15日、まだまだ、暑い日が続いています。

花の種は、芽を出し始めました。芽が出ない種もあるので、今年は、すべてのポットに名札を付けました。

相変わらず35度近くの残暑が続いています。

しかし、午後や夕方から雷と雨が降ります。

１９日の午後３時頃、雷と風と雨と雹が降りました。

我が家のチワワのクロは、怖くて部屋の隅で小さくなっていました。

数日前から、のろのろ台風の影響で、雨が降り続けています。(It has been raining continuously for the past few days due to the influence of a slow-moving typhoon.)

真夏の暑さはないのですが、湿気が多いのでじとじとしています。(It’s not as hot as midsummer, but it’s humid and sticky.)

秋空を見たいです。(I want to see the autumn sky.)

９月は、秋の夜空に浮かぶ、美しい月を眺めるお月見（十五夜）があります。(In September, there is the moon viewing festival (the 15th night of the full moon), where you can gaze at the beautiful moon floating in the autumn night sky.)

私の子供のころの家には、縁側という長い廊下がありました。(My childhood house had a long corridor called a veranda.)

そこに、お団子とススキと栗やいもなどを飾り月の美しさを鑑賞しました。(We decorated it with rice dumplings, Japanese pampas grass, chestnuts, potatoes, and other things to admire the beauty of the moon.)

2024年の十五夜は、9月17日（火）です。(The 15th night of the full moon in 2024 will be on Tuesday, September 17th.)

最近は、自民党の総裁選挙の話題が多いです。(There has been a lot of talk recently about the LDP presidential election.)

今日、来年の春から夏にかけて咲く花の種をポットにまきました。(Today I planted some seeds in a pot that will bloom from spring to summer next year.)

芽が出るのが、楽しみです。(I’m looking forward to seeing them sprout.)

毎日、３５度近い日が続いています。(The temperature has been close to 35°C every day.)
でも、このところ、急な雷雨と激しい雨が降ることが多いです。(However, there have been many sudden thunderstorms and heavy rain recently.)
そのあとは、涼しくなります。(After that, it gets cooler.)
夜は虫たちの鳴き声が聞こえたりします。(I can hear the insects chirping at night.)
ハマナスの実が、赤くなっていました。(The fruits of the rosehip trees have turned red.)
最近、用事があり、都心に行ってきました。(I recently had to go to the city center for some business.)
奇麗な外観を持つ建物の写真を撮りました。(I took some photos of a building with a beautiful exterior.)

毎日、３５度以上の暑い日が、続いています。(It’s been hot, over 35 degrees every day.)

睡眠と食べ物、水分など気を付けていますが、(I’m being careful about sleep, food, and fluids,)

だるさを感じています。(but I feel fatigued.)

１３日からお盆休みに入ります。(The Obon holidays start on the 13th.)

東京は、７月がお盆です。(In Tokyo, Obon is in July.)

全国的には、８月です。(Nationwide, it’s in August.)

生まれ育ったのが、神奈川県なので8月のお盆でした。(I was born and raised in Kanagawa Prefecture, so Obon was in August.)

お盆の時にお墓参りに行くと道路が渋滞しています。(When I go to visit the graves during Obon, the roads are congested.)

お盆の意味は、お盆の時期に先祖供養を行うことで親孝行になるといわれています。(The meaning of Obon is that it is said that by holding memorial services for ancestors during this time, one is showing filial piety to one’s parents.)

先祖の霊を迎える『迎え火』、送る『送り火』京都の五山の送り火が有名です。(There are “mukaebi” (welcoming fires) to welcome the spirits of ancestors, and “okuribi” (farewell fires) to send them off. The Gozan no Okuribi in Kyoto is a famous example.)

九州の一部の地域で行われる『精霊流し』も、有名な行事です。(Another famous event is the “Shorei Nagashi” festival, which takes place in some areas of Kyushu.)

亡くなって初めての盆を迎えた故人の家族が、盆提灯や造花などで飾られた精霊船（しょうろうぶね）と呼ばれる船に故人の霊を乗せて、「流し場」と呼ばれる終着点まで運ぶ伝統行事です。(It is a traditional event in which the family of a deceased person who has passed away for the first time in Bon festival places the spirit of the deceased on a boat called a Shoro-bune, decorated with Bon lanterns and artificial flowers, and carries it to a destination called the “Nagashiba.”)

毎年8月15日の夕方から開催され、爆竹の破裂音・鉦の音・掛け声が交錯する喧騒の中で行われます。(It takes place every year from the evening of August 15th, amid the hustle and bustle of popping firecrackers, bells and shouts.)

歌手のさだまさしさんの『精霊流し』という歌があります。(Singer Masashi Sada has a song called “Shorei Nagashi.”)

暑さに負けず、切り戻したデルフィニウムや鉄砲ユリ、パイナップルの根が張ったようで元気です。(Despite the heat, the delphiniums, gun lilies, and pineapple trees that I cut back seem to have taken root and are doing well.)

菊も咲きました。(The chrysanthemums have also bloomed.)

１６日、台風７号が、昼頃千葉県に接近する予報です。少し離れているので、雨風がひどくないです。
幸水梨を試し取りしてみました。重さ２７０ｇ、味は、まあまあです。(On the 16th, Typhoon No. 7 is forecast to approach Chiba Prefecture around noon. It’s a little far away, so the wind and rain won’t be too bad.
I tried picking some Kosui pears. They weighed 270g and tasted okay.)

８月最初に市の主催でお祭りがあります。(There is a festival sponsored by the city at the beginning of August.)

花火、屋台、山車などにぎやかです。(It’s a lively event with fireworks, food stalls, and floats.)

まだまだ、暑いので注意しています。(It’s still hot, so be careful.)

家の周りで最近虫が鳴くようになりました。(Recently I’ve been hearing a lot of insects around my house.)

近くの郵便局の庭には、優しい花が植えてあります。(There are gentle flowers planted in the garden of the nearby post office.)

ギラギラした太陽光の中ですがすがしく咲いています。(They bloom beautifully in the scorching sunlight.)

梨やラフランスの実が大きくなりました。(The pears and La France fruits have grown big.)

３５度以上の猛暑日が、続きます。(The scorching hot days of over 35 degrees continue.)

皮膚に刺さるような太陽光線です。(The sunlight is piercing the skin.)

この地域は、盆踊りです。(In this area, Bon Odori is held now.)

用事の帰り、渋谷駅迄１０分歩きました。(On the way back from an errand, I walked 10 minutes to Shibuya Station.)
周りの建物を見ながら歩くとすぐに着きます。(If I keep walking and look at the surrounding buildings, I’ll arrive quickly.)

夏の風物詩の花火が7月末にありました。(Fireworks, a typical summer event, took place at the end of July.)
市の主催です。(They were organized by the city.)
来週は、お祭りもあります。(There’s also a festival next week.)

毎日暑いです。湿度が高いので疲れます。(It’s hot every day. The humidity is high and it makes me tired.)

汗がたくさん出て数回着替えが必要です。(I will sweat a lot and need to change clothes several times.)

7月18日、関東地方の梅雨があけました。(The rainy season ended in the Kanto region on July 18th.)

急に、暑くなりました。(It suddenly got hot.)

昨日から、７月に入りました。(July began yesterday.)

昨日は、曇りと雨でした。(Yesterday it was cloudy and rainy,)

今日は、快晴で暑い一日となりそうです。(Today it looks like it will be a sunny and hot day.)

７月７日は、七夕です。(July 7th is Tanabata.)

七夕は、中国の七夕に端を発する日本のお祭りです。(Tanabata is a Japanese festival that originated from the Chinese Star Festival.)

空の神様は、働かない二人を怒り、天の川の両端に引き離しました。(The god of the sky got angry at the two for not working and separated them to either end of the Milky Way.)

二人は年に一度、7月の7日だけ会うことが許されています。(The two are only allowed to meet once a year on the 7th of July.)

織姫と彦星の年に１度の逢瀬を祝う行事です。(This is an event to celebrate the annual rendezvous of Orihime and Hikoboshi.)

私は、行きつけのスーパーに短冊が置いてあるので、願いを書いて笹に吊るしてきます。(I write my wish on a strip of paper and hang it on a bamboo tree because they have it at my favorite supermarket.)

星に願いをお願いしてきます。(I make a wish to the stars.)

有名なのは、仙台の七夕祭りです。(The famous Tanabata Festival is in Sendai.)

7月7日は、東京都知事選でした。(July 7th was the Tokyo gubernatorial election.)

８日は、用事で表参道に行きました。(On the 8th, I went to Omotesando for some business.)
表参道は、渋谷に近い　おしゃれな街です。(Omotesando is a fashionable town near Shibuya.)

真夏日で、大変暑かったです。(It was midsummer and very hot.)

湿度が高く蒸し暑いです。(It’s muggy and humid.)

気温が高くても湿度が低ければ、すっきりした暑さです。(Even if the temperature is high, if the humidity is low, it can be a refreshing heat.)

しかし、残念ながら、東京の夏は、湿度の高くて疲れます。(Unfortunately, however, summers in Tokyo are tiring because of the high humidity.)

東京は、まだ、梅雨には入っていないようです。(It seems that Tokyo has not yet entered the rainy season.)

雪が、ほとんど溶けた富士山が見えました。(I could see Mount Fuji, with most of the snow having melted.)

久しぶりに、渋谷に行きました。(Today I went to Shibuya for the first time in a while.)

約１０年ぶりに見た忠犬ハチ公は、昔と同じでした。(I saw the loyal dog Hachiko for the first time in about 10 years and he looked the same as he did back then.)

今は、東京都知事選の最中です。(The Tokyo gubernatorial election is currently underway.)

ハチ公のそばで一人の候補者が話していました。(A candidate was speaking next to Hachiko.)

日本列島の西のほうから梅雨に入りました。(The rainy season has begun in the western part of the Japanese archipelago.)

庭の花の咲く様子が、変わってきてます。(The way flowers bloom in the garden is changing.)

スカシユリが咲いてます。(The lilies are in bloom.)

ヤマユリやカサブランカは蕾です。(The mountain lilies and Casablanca lilies are in bud.)

アストロメリアは依然と咲いています。(The astromeria is still in bloom.)

カスミソウが満開です。(The baby’s breath is in full bloom.)

ダリアも咲いています。(The dahlias are also blooming.)

ブラックベリーやヤマブドウの実が、少し、大きくなりました。(The blackberries and wild grape berries have grown a little larger.)

アジサイのアナベルが咲き始めました。(The Annabelle hydrangeas have started to bloom.)

今年は、花菖蒲が咲きました。(This year, the irises have bloomed.)

この季節は、楽しいです。(This season is fun.)
