花や野菜を育ててストレス解消！

暖かくて庭の手入れがしやすい日と寒くてやりたくないと思う日が、続いています。（There have been days when it’s warm and easy to tend to the garden, and days when it’s too cold and I don’t feel like doing it.）
ハクモクレンや早咲の桜が開花し始めました。（White magnolias and early-blooming cherry blossoms have begun to bloom.）
毎年、この２つが咲くのを楽しみにしています。（Every year, I look forward to seeing these two in bloom.）

今日は、真冬のように寒いです。（It’s as cold as mid-winter today.）
明日からは、暖かくなるそうです。（It’s supposed to get warmer from tomorrow.）
秋の種まきから越冬して花が咲いています。（The flowers have survived the winter after being planted in the fall and are now in bloom.）
ニッコウキスゲ、ヒトリシズカ、フタリシズカの山野草を購入しました。（I purchased some wild plants: Hemerocallis middendorffii, Chloranthus japonicus, and Chloranthus sericeus.）
以前購入したイカリソウと高麗ウスユキソウは根を植え替えました。（I also repotted the Epimedium and Leontopodium alpinum that I had previously purchased.）

一番好きな時期です。（It’s my favorite time of year.）
ホームセンターの園芸コーナーに行ってきました。（I went to the gardening section of a home improvement store.）
シレネとひな草、可愛らしく可憐で「春が来た！」という感じがします。（The silene and baby’s laurels are so cute and pretty, it makes me feel like “spring has arrived!”）
うちの庭に迎えました。（I welcomed them into my garden.）
春先の野の花も咲き始めました。（Early spring wildflowers are starting to bloom.）
３月３日は、お雛祭りです。（March 3rd is Hinamatsuri (Girls’ Festival).）

数日は寒かったので丹沢山塊に雪が降りました。（It was cold for a few days and snow fell on the Tanzawa Mountains.）

予報では、明日から暖かくなるそうです。（The forecast says it’ll get warmer starting tomorrow.）
でも。今日は、寒い曇りです。（But today, it’s cold and cloudy.）
少しずつですが春の気配も感じています。（Slowly but surely, I’m starting to feel the signs of spring.）
庭の河津桜の枝を部屋に飾っていました。（I’ve been decorating my room with Kawazu cherry blossom branches from my garden,）
少し蕾が開き始めました。（Some buds have begun to open.）

予報通り今日は暖かいです。（As predicted, it’s warm today.）
川には見たことのない鳥も来ていました。（There were also some birds I’d never seen before on the river.）

花が少ないので満開の梅がとても綺麗です。（Since there are few flowers, the plum blossoms in full bloom are very beautiful.）

2月3日は節分でした。（February 3rd was Setsubun.）
「一年間健康に過ごせるように」という願いを込めて「悪いもの」を追い出す行事とされています。（It is an event that is said to drive away evil spirits with the wish that everyone will be healthy throughout the year.）
私も豆まきをしました。（I also took part in the bean-throwing ceremony.）
恵方巻を食べました。（I ate ehomaki (sushi rolled sushi rolls).）
ヒイラギの鉢を玄関に置きました。（I placed a pot of holly at the entrance to the house.）
今年１年元気に送りたいです。（I hope to be healthy and lively this year.）

日曜日に雪が降る予報なので、期日前投票に行きました。（Since snow is forecast for Sunday, I went to vote early.）
長蛇の列で約1時間並んで投票してきました。（I waited in a long line for about an hour to vote.）
杖を突いている人や車いすの人なども来ていました。（There were also people using canes and wheelchairs.）
投票の権利は大切に使わないとと思いました。（I realized that I should cherish my right to vote.）

冬の庭をストックとパンジーとビオラで飾ろうと計画しました。（I planned to decorate my winter garden with stock, pansies, and violas.）
早めに種をまきました。（I planted the seeds early.）
でも、去年の夏の暑さに途中で枯れてしまいました。（However, they died midway through last summer’s heat.）
今、残ったのは、数本です。（Now, only a few remain.）
今年は、再チャレンジします。（This year, I’ll try again.）
