今日から11月です。(It’s November from today.)

菊の花が開き始めました。(Chrysanthemum flowers are starting to open.)

まだ、霜が降りるほど寒くありません。(It’s not cold enough to cause frost yet.)

最近は、秋晴れが続いています。(Lately, the weather has been sunny in autumn.)

気温も動きやすい温度です。(The temperature is also comfortable for movement.)

９月に植えたビーツやコールラビ・グランドデュークや蕪も大きくなっています。(The beets, Kohlrabi/Grand Duke, and turnips that we planted in September are also getting bigger.)

四季なりイチゴも少しずつ成っています。(As the seasons change, strawberries grow little by little.)

花の苗も大きくなっています。(The flower seedlings are also getting bigger.)

野菜の値段が高くなっているので菜っ葉類の種をまきました。(Since the price of vegetables is getting high, I sowed seeds of leafy vegetables.)

芽が出たところです。(It has just sprouted.)

涼しくなりました。(It got cooler.)

秋晴れで気持ちがよいです。(It is sunny and pleasant in autumn.)

川沿いの道を歩くといろいろな雑草があって楽しいです。(When I walk along the riverside, I enjoy seeing all kinds of weeds.)

また、紅葉が始まった木もあります。(In addition, there are trees that have begun to turn red.)

4月に種を植えたジニアが、今、咲きました。(The zinnias I planted in April are now blooming.)

高山植物のホトトギスも夏を乗り越え咲きました。(The alpine plant Hototogis also bloomed through the summer.)

早生ミカン、ブドウ、ナシ、柿、など果実が豊富です。(There is an abundance of fruits such as early mandarin oranges, grapes, pears, plums and persimmons.)

おいしそうに果実売り場にあります。(It looks delicious and is placed in the fruit section.)

今日は、安売りしていたシャインマスカットを買いました。(Today, I bought Shine Muscat that was on sale at a bargain price.)

我が家には、ブドウ、ミカン、柿、梨の木があります。(We have grape, tangerine, persimmon, and pear trees at our house.)

現在、収穫できるのはミカンと柿です。(Currently, we can only harvest mandarin oranges and persimmons.)

9月29日は中秋の名月です。(September 29th is the Harvest Moon.)

一番美しい月とされています。(It is considered the most beautiful moon.)

そして、今年は満月です。(And,this year there is a full moon.)
中秋の名月の日には、お月見をする風習がありました。(On the day of the harvest moon in mid-autumn, there was a custom of viewing the moon.)
子供のころ、縁側にススキと野菜とお団子が飾ってあるのを覚えています。(When I was a child, I remember seeing pampas grass, vegetables, and dumplings displayed on the porch. )
子供は各家を回ってお菓子をもらいました。(The children went from house to house and received sweets.)
楽しみだったことを覚えています。(I remember looking forward to it.)

「暑さ寒さも彼岸まで」という言葉があります。(There is a saying that goes, “The heat and the cold are all the way to the equinox.”)

しかし、最近は、当てはまらないような気がしています。(But lately, I feel like that’s not the case.)

３０年くらい前は９月１３日頃を境目にして涼しくなった記憶があります。(I remember that about 30 years ago, it started to get cooler around September 13th.)

最近は、１７日になっても蒸し暑いです。(Lately, it’s been hot and humid even on the 17th.)

まだ、昼間は夏のようです。(It still feels like summer during the day.)

９月に植えた花の種は順調に出始めています。(The flower seeds planted in September are starting to emerge smoothly.)

近くの郵便局で入口に花を植えています。(Flowers are being planted at the entrance of a nearby post office.)

今、秋の花が咲いています。(Autumn flowers are blooming now.)

可憐な花が可愛いです。(The pretty flowers are cute.)

９月になって２日経ちました。(It’s been two days since September.)

昼間の暑さは変わりません。(The heat during the day remains the same.)

しかし、夜は涼しくてエアコンをつけないで寝ています。(However, the nights are so cool that I sleep without the air conditioner on.)

９月に蒔く花の種をポットに植えました。(I planted the seeds for flowers to be sown in September in pots.)

今年は例年と少し違う種も入れました。(This year, I added some seeds that are a little different than usual.)

どのような花が咲くのか期待しています。(I look forward to seeing what kind of flowers will bloom.)

それとともに順調に育ってくれるか心配です。(I’m worried about whether it will grow smoothly along with it.)

今、植えると来年の春きれいな花を咲かせてくれます。(If you plant it now, it will bloom with beautiful flowers next spring.)

昨日、今日と風が吹きました。(The wind blew yesterday and today.)

その為、暑さが和らいだように感じます。(Therefore, I feel that the heat has softened.)

トルコ桔梗が再び花を咲かせ始めました。(Turkish Bellflower has started to bloom again.)

四季なりイチゴが少しずつ実を着けています。(In all four seasons, strawberries are bearing fruit little by little.)

お盆は、ご先祖様をお迎えしてご供養する事です。

(Obon is a time to welcome and hold a memorial service for your ancestors.)

１３日にお盆提灯やキュウリ・ナスで作った牛馬で先祖をお迎えします。

(On the 13th, we welcome our ancestors with Obon lanterns and cows and horses made from cucumbers and eggplants.)

１４，１５日は親戚が集まったり、お坊さんにお経をあげてもらうところもあります。

(Relatives gather on the 14th and 15th, and there are places where Buddhist monks chant sutras.)

そして、１６日に先祖をお送りします。

(Then, on the 16th, I will send my ancestors.)

去年、兄が１５日に病気で亡くなりました。

(Last year, his older brother died of illness on the 15th.)

兄は亡くなる前、何度も実母が来たと言ってました。

(Before his brother died, he said many times that his biological mother had come.)

そんな話を葬儀屋さんにしたら、

「１５，１６日は先祖が帰るとき連れて行くから気を付けなければいけない」と言ってました。

(When I told the funeral director about this, he said, “On the 15th and 16th, I will take my ancestors back home, so I have to be careful.”)

科学的根拠はありませんが、

「もう十分頑張ったから苦しまないで行こう」と実母が連れて行ったような気がします。

(There is no scientific basis, but I feel like my mother took me there saying, “I’ve done my best so let’s go without suffering.”)

８月１６日の京都の五山の送り火は、再び死後の世界に帰る先祖を送るというお盆の行事です。

(The Gozan no Okuribi in Kyoto on August 16th is an Obon event to send ancestors back to the afterlife.)

五つの夜空に燃える文字はもの悲しさを感じます。

(The five letters burning in the night sky feel sad.)

先週までの３５度以上の猛暑より少し楽になりました。(It became a little easier than the intense heat of 35 degrees or more until last week.)

暑いのは同じですが、夜や朝が涼しいです。(It’s still hot, but it’s cooler at night and in the morning.)

エアコンを付けないで寝る日もあります。(Some days I sleep without the air conditioner on.)

芝生が暑さで褐色に変わってしまいました。(The heat has turned the grass brown.)

しかし、秋や冬に収穫できる柿、ミカン、甘夏などは大きくなっています。(However, persimmons, mandarin oranges, and sweet summers that can be harvested in autumn and winter are getting bigger.)

8月4日ごろからひどく暑いです。(It has been extremely hot since around August 4th.)

朝から外は熱い空気がまとわりつきます。( Hot air surrounds us from the morning.)

各地で花火大会が催されています。(Fireworks festivals are held all over the country.)

お墓参りに行ってきました。(I went to visit a grave.)
周りに木が多いので涼しかったです。(It was cool because there were many trees around.)
